Thank-you all for a great year!

Hope you are enjoying the Summer Holidays?

I just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to you all for the overwhelming messages, cards and presents. It’s been a pleasure to spend a year with your lovely children.

Have a great Summer! Here are some photos to remind you of a fabulous Pet Day!

X Mrs Sh X

Thanks to all of you who gave up your precious time to bring in pets – we had a wonderful day!

Bring a bag!

Please can the children bring a bag to carry their Y1 school books home in on MONDAY 24TH JULY, 2017. PE kits will also be sent home on this day.

If you wish to collect your child from the class on this day, to help them with their load, please make your way to the class from 3.10 pm.

Thank you!

Gingerbread men baking day!

Wow! What a busy baking day we have had! Bramshaw class have proven themselves to be brilliant bakers as we worked in small teams to mix the ingredients, kneed the gingerbread dough, cut out the gingerbread men, bake and decorate them. The children worked really well together, supporting and sharing the tasks, and were very pleased with the results that they achieved. They looked good enough to eat, so lets hope that that was the case…? (the gingerbread men were taken home for consumption!)

Bramshaw’s Toy Photo Stories

In English we have been looking at the story ‘Naughty Bus’ – thinking about the clever way the author used situation photographs and simple sentences, along with onomatopoeia and punctuation, to bring the story to life. We have worked hard, in groups, to do the same and we would like to share that hard work with you so that you can enjoy it too!

The titles of the stories are on the previous post. If you hover over the titles and click on one the powerpoint will open up for you. Make sure you watch it in a slideshow and let your child work it and read it to you!

The children had to make a story board, reproduce it as a staged photo using the iPads, write the captions, build the powerpoint, insert the captions and then animate the book. Each group then presented their story to classes around the school and received lots of very positive feedback.

Enjoy!

Milestones Dressing up!

Just to confirm……

To help the children fully engage with the experience day, please dress them up as a child from the past.

This could be very basic dirty face and shorts for a Victorian Child – no chimney sweep props please!

We do have a handful of outfits in school, so pop in or write a note if you want to borrow one.

Sensible shoes please.

Ask your child about the Andy Goldsworthy art we did this afternoon – they could recreate one of his sculptures in the garden for you! Photos to follow.

Testwood Lakes!

What a beautiful day we had today at Testwood lakes!

  • we all held a wriggly worm
  • we caught tadpoles with legs
  • we used nets and caught water creatures like dragonfly nymphs
  • we classified the creatures
  • we ate our lunch outside!
  • we looked at different skulls and decided if they were herbivore or carnivore
  • we compared stuffed animals – birds and mammals
  • we went on a bug hunt and captured bugs and beetles in pots using a spoon and a paintbrush!
  • we had a lovely time!

Huge thanks to all the parent helpers  (apart from one, who shall remain nameless, who knows that she is very naughty!)

Hope all you children are all on your way to bed tired and happy!
